What's New in Cosmos, Interchain and IBC
  • Paxos Brings Yield-Bearing Stablecoin to Injective Network
Paxos South America has launched Wrapped Lift Dollar (wUSDL), a yield-bearing stablecoin, on the Injective ecosystem. wUSDL is a wrapped version of USDL, backed 1:1 by dollar reserves and earning yield from treasury bills.

Users can utilize wUSDL across Injective's DeFi protocols while earning passive income at a 4.7% annual yield. The stablecoin can be used for margin trading, lending, and money market platforms. wUSDL's value grows over time, capturing daily dividends without token rebasing.

  • Secret Network’s Confidential Computing Layer is expanding to Solana
Secret Network has integrated its Confidential Computing Layer with Solana, bringing decentralized confidential computing (DeCC) capabilities to the Solana ecosystem. This integration enables Solana dApps to implement features like private voting, encrypted storage, and confidential data for NFTs.

DeCC allows blockchain applications to store and compute encrypted data without public exposure, addressing a key limitation in Web3. Secret's approach uses Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) for secure data processing. The integration required developing SecretPath, a custom cross-chain communication protocol, to connect with Solana's non-EVM, non-IBC architecture.

  • Akash Network's Explosive Growth
Akash Network reported significant growth in Q3 2024, with user fees increasing 1,729% year-over-year and 72.5% quarter-over-quarter. While the number of leases created dropped 41% from Q2, the average fee per lease grew 192% to $18.75, indicating longer-lasting and higher-paying deployments.

Year-over-year, leases increased by 138%, with average fees growing 688%. These metrics suggest strong growth in both quantity and quality of apps deployed on Akash. The data, sourced from the Akash blockchain and indexed by Akash Stats, is open-source and verifiable on-chain. Akash anticipates continued growth in Q4 2024 with upcoming core team releases aimed at user acquisition and retention.

  • TON Taps Axelar For First Cross-Chain Interoperability Infrastructure
The Open Network (TON) integrates Axelar's Mobius Development Stack to enable cross-chain connectivity with 68 blockchains, including Ethereum, Cosmos, and Polkadot networks.

This move will allow TON dApps to connect with MDS-supported networks and facilitate interchain token transfers. TON has experienced significant growth since its integration with Telegram in September 2023, with its Total Value Locked increasing to $750.9 million.

  • Expanding cheqd into ACA-Py
cheqd is expanding its integration into Aries Cloud Agent Python (ACA-Py), aiming to enhance ACA-Py's capabilities beyond its current Hyperledger Indy focus. This integration will bring support for did: cheqd-based AnonCreds, DID-Linked Resources, and new features like trust registries and credential payments to ACA-Py.

Benefits include improved interoperability, faster transaction speeds, increased decentralization, and new monetization models. The integration aligns with EU ARF requirements and offers a migration path from Indy. cheqd plans to engage with the Open Wallet Foundation community, work with contributors like DIDx and AyanWorks, and provide financial and technical support for the integration effort and related projects.

  • Osmosis Pay, powered by Cypher
Osmosis Pay, powered by Cypher, introduces a new card that allows users to spend their Osmosis assets for everyday purchases. The card supports USDC and USDY, with more assets planned for future inclusion.

It's compatible with Apple Pay and Google Wallet, offering both virtual and physical card options. Leveraging the VISA network, the Osmosis Card is accepted by over 40 million merchants across more than 140 countries. Security features include 3D Secure and customizable card controls. This integration enables users to seamlessly use their crypto assets for real-world transactions, bridging the gap between digital assets and traditional payment systems.

  • SuperVerse has announced its partnership with Sei Network
SuperVerse has announced its partnership with Sei Network, a Layer 1 blockchain that combines Ethereum's development standards with Solana-like speed. Sei offers a parallelized EVM, achieving 12,500 TPS, 380 ms finality, and low transaction fees.

This collaboration aims to enhance crypto gaming by leveraging Sei's infrastructure for faster, more scalable solutions. Developers can now deploy Ethereum smart contracts on Sei, benefiting from lower fees and greater efficiency. Sei's environment includes customizable smart contracts, developer-friendly tools, and SeiDB for improved state performance, enabling the creation of next-generation web3 gaming experiences without bottlenecks.
